A proud flight for the nation: MASkargo brings Chen Xing & Xiao Yue to Malaysia
MASkargo proudly marked one of its most meaningful special-cargo milestones yesterday as we successfully transported Malaysia’s new giant pandas, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue, from Sichuan, China, to Kuala Lumpur. An operation that showcased MASkargo’s unrivalled expertise as a special carrier trusted for sensitive, high-value, and high-welfare cargo movements. Their safe arrival at KLIA was honoured with a water salute, symbolising Malaysia’s warm welcome and MASkargo’s pride in being the airline selected to execute this highly specialised mission under the renewed 10-year Malaysia–China panda conservation agreement.
The arrival ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, representatives from the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) Ministry, Zoo Negara, conservation agencies, and government officials, reflecting the depth of bilateral friendship and conservation commitment between both nations. As the designated carrier, MASkargo ensured strict compliance with international live-animal transport standards by maintaining optimal aircraft conditions, specialised crate handling, inflight welfare monitoring, and seamless ground coordination to safeguard the pandas throughout their journey.
They were immediately transferred for veterinary checks and quarantine ahead of their official placement at Zoo Negara under the renewed Malaysia–China conservation programme. Following touchdown, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue were taken to the Giant Panda Conservation Centre for a mandatory one-month long quarantine before meeting the Malaysian public. This mission required meticulous teamwork across MASkargo’s operations, ramp and ground handling teams, live-animal experts, veterinary specialists, NRES officers, and the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda, ensuring flawless execution from departure to delivery.
With Chen Xing’s lively temperament and Xiao Yue’s gentle nature, their arrival marks a new chapter in Malaysia’s panda diplomacy. This operation further solidifies MASkargo’s leadership in special-cargo logistics, reinforcing our role in supporting national initiatives and strengthening meaningful global partnerships that truly keep business and conservation – moving forward.
